Dr. Laura Castille, Executive Director for OIE, holds two degrees from New Mexico State University and is thrilled to be back among fellow Aggies. She earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1992 and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1994. During her time at NMSU, she worked at the Round Up, ultimately serving as Editor. After leaving NMSU, Dr. Castille worked as a teacher in: Chihuahua Mexico; Austin, Texas; Boulder, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned a certificate in Educational Leadership from UNM in 2004, and worked as a school Principal for eight years. She was last an Assistant Principal at West Mesa High School in Albuquerque.
In 2014, Dr. Castille graduated from the UNM School of Law and worked as a lawyer in private practice at Cuddy & McCarthy LLP, since clerking there while still in law school. Her primary area of practice was School Law. Dr. Castille represented school districts and charter school in all areas of the law from Title IX compliance to contracts to employee issues to representation in front of the NM Human Rights Bureau and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Dr. Castille is proud and excited for the opportunity to bring her knowledge and expertise to NMSU. Dr. Castille is a licensed Level III Teacher and Administrator in New Mexico and licensed to practice law in New Mexico and Federal Court. She has two daughters and a husband who is a high school teacher and football coach. Go Aggies!
