RE:              Notice of Non-Discrimination

Date:           July 19, 2019

MEMORANDUM

The Office of Institutional Equity (“OIE”) is charged with investigating reports of discrimination throughout the entire University system. OIE is the Title IX office for NMSU. I am the Title IX Coordinator for the University.

OIE also handles all employee (including student employee) petitions for accommodation under the American’s with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as well as all pregnancy accommodations for students. Additionally, OIE houses NMSU’s Affirmative Action Plan.

Part of OIE’s responsibilities is to publish, annually, the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination (“Notice”). Attached is the latest Notice. All NMSU publications must include this Notice. Notice should appear in places that are visible and readily available, i.e. front covers of booklets, bulletin boards in the front office, staff handbooks, newsletters, etc. For job postings, you may use the following shortened version: NMSU is an EO/AA employer.

Please take a moment to replace all previous Notices with the attached Notice. All Departments must ensure that a copy of this Notice is visible in the workplace. Please take a moment to review any publications, forms and documents distributed by your department and update them with this Notice. Attached are English and Spanish language versions of the Notice.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to return to NMSU and be back among Aggies. Angela Velasco, Agustin Diaz and Christina Gomez remain familiar faces in OIE. Annamarie Delovato is our newest employee and Deputy Director of OIE.

The Office of Institutional Equity is here to assist you. You may request training through the OIE website at https://equity.nmsu.edu/training-request/. Please contact us with any questions.
