Accommodations (Religious)


NMSU is committed to making reasonable religious accommodations for employees and student employees. Religious accommodations are granted for:
"all aspects of religious observance and practices, as well as belief, unless an employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate an employee's or prospective employee's religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer's business." Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, as amended.

Requests for reasonable accommodation for religious beliefs should be submitted to OIE at equity@nmsu.edu. Upon receipt, OIE will review the request, as well as any concerns, and will issue a decision. If granted, an accommodation agreement will be issued by OIE.

NMSU is dedicated to providing equal opportunities in areas of employment and academics and is committed to providing a place of work and learning free of discrimination and harassment on the basis of a person’s religion. COVID-19 Vaccine Exemptions/Accommodation

Pursuant to Chancellor Arvizu's memo, dated April 18, 2022, the Office of Institutional Equity will NO LONGER review any requests for COVID-19 vaccine exemptions/accommodation. This includes any religious or medical request for accommodatin/exemption as a result of the COVID-19 VACCINE MANDATE.

Details regarding obtaining a medical or religious exemption will be announced in the next few weeks. Look for furhter communicaitn from the NMSU NOW Team outling the process. For further information, please direct all questions or concenrs regarding the COVID-19 vaccine mandate to covid19@nmsu.edu.
