Vision and Mission
New Mexico State University is deeply committed to non-discrimination and equal opportunity in all employment and learning environments. The mission of the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) is to support this commitment by fostering a respectful and supportive environment for the NMSU System community. Our goal is to ensure that all employees and students can excel regardless of their age, ancestry, color, disability, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, serious medical condition, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, spousal affiliation, or protected veteran status, consistent with NMSU policy and state and federal laws. To fulfill this mission the Office of Institutional Equity:
- Serves as a neutral and independent investigatory unit for addressing complaints of discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, involving alleged violations of NMSU policy or state or federal law.
- Provides guidance and support to NMSU administrators regarding compliance with NMSU non-discrimination policies, and disability accommodations under the ADA.
- Offer educational to programs related to discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, and respectful workplace conduct.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that reinforme the university's commitment to non-discriminaiton.
The Office of Institutional Equity takes all complaints seriously and is dedicated to promoting accountability and fairness within the working and learning environments across all members of the NMSU system and the greater community.
